Building Surveyor
A client within the Public Sector based in Warwickshire is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor – Disrepair / Damp & Mould to join their Neighbourhood and Assets Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a housing maintenance or property surveying environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to undertake a full range of Building Surveying and Project Management duties to maintain and improve the Council’s housing stock and property portfolio, ensuring compliance with statutory responsibilities and legislation, with a particular focus on disrepair, damp & mould, and planned works.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Planning, specifying, procuring, and delivering planned works and cyclical maintenance contracts.
• Undertaking stock condition, damp & mould, HHSRS, and defect surveys, including feasibility studies and measured surveys.
• Preparing technical drawings, tender specifications, RIBA plans, reports, and contract documentation.
• Acting as a point of contact for tenants, clients, and contractors, providing technical advice and clear communication.
• Managing project budgets, valuations, contractor performance, and ensuring all works comply with Health & Safety and CDM regulations.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require an HNC/HND/Degree in a built environment discipline or at least 3 years’ experience working for a local authority or housing provider, alongside experience of undertaking building surveys and managing resulting works.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Membership of RICS, CIOB, MCABE or equivalent professional body.
• Accreditation for HHSRS or EPC assessments (or willingness to achieve).
• Knowledge of Fire Safety, Asbestos and Mechanical & Electrical building services.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £29 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £23 per hour PAYE).
