Key Responsibilities

1. Prepare the financial elements of bids and tenders.

2. Work collaboratively with the wider team throughout the pre-construction and tender process.

3. Carry out risk assessments on bids and tenders and report findings to senior management.

4. Coordinate mid-tender and final adjudications with senior management.

5. Prepare costings and submissions in the agreed format.

6. Present costings and submissions for review by senior management.

7. Manage the handover process for successful bids to the delivery team.

8. Liaise with the commercial team on awarded projects during the procurement phase.

9. Provide feedback and support to delivery teams regarding post-tender queries.

10. Prepare proposal cost components, including task analysis, planning, assessment of past performance, and personnel coordination.

11. Attend meetings with clients, designers, project managers, and other stakeholders as required.

12. Attend site visits to support accurate tender preparation.

13. Manage the supply chain to ensure competitive quotations are obtained.

14. Review supply chain quotations for compliance with tender documentation.

15. Manage tender clarifications throughout the bid process.

16. Measure and take off quantities from drawings.

17. Prepare Bills of Quantities (BoQ).

18. Assess project risk levels and analyse relevant data.

19. Monitor project stages to ensure costs align with forecasts.

20. Interpret cost data from awarded projects to inform future bids.

21. Work closely with construction managers, planners, and design teams.

Requirements

1. Educational Background

* Minimum of 5 GCSEs (A–C), including Maths.

* BTEC in Building Studies, Building Engineering, or Building Management.

* HNC/HND or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.

2. Experience

* Essential: Experience with a main contractor or general building contractor.

* Preferred: Experience with large residential conversion projects and listed buildings.

* Minimum of 5 years’ estimating experience.

3. Skills

* Strong analytical and numerical skills.

* Proficiency with industry software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, CostX).

* Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
