A growing multidisciplinary consultancy is seeking an experienced Principal Geo-Environmental Consultant to take a key leadership role within its Ground Investigation division. This is an excellent opportunity for a highly capable consultant looking to shape complex projects, drive technical delivery, and support the continued growth of a thriving environmental and ground investigation team.
About the Role
You will oversee the tendering, design, and management of complex ground investigations, including full financial accountability for each project. The position involves producing, reviewing, and signing off high-quality technical reports, remediation strategies, and detailed risk assessments. You will work closely with clients, regulators, and internal teams while also contributing to business development through networking and client relationship management.
The role plays a pivotal part in supporting wider project management and land remediation functions across the consultancy.
Key Responsibilities
Leading the project management of complex ground investigations and validation works, including tenders, SI design, budgeting, and oversight of financial performance.
Producing high-quality technical reports such as soil, gas, and groundwater risk assessments, remediation strategies, and other detailed assessments.
Reviewing and approving Phase 1 desk studies, Phase 2 investigations, remediation strategies, and completion reports.
Liaising directly with clients and regulators to ensure smooth project delivery and high standards of service.
Supporting business development by building and maintaining your own client portfolio and attending networking events.
Providing mentorship, training, and technical guidance to junior members of the team.
Requirements
Degree in geology, environmental science, geography, geophysics, geochemistry, or a related discipline (higher degree advantageous).
10+ years’ experience in geo-environmental consultancy.
Strong commercial awareness and understanding of industry practices.
Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Able to work independently while maintaining alignment with project and line management requirements.
Proficient in Microsoft Office.
Full UK driving licence
