This is a well-established specialist contractor operating within a major UK construction group, delivering high-quality fit-out, refurbishment, and new-build projects nationwide.

Although part of a larger organisation, they operate with the agility and culture of a regional business, while still benefiting from group-level support and expertise.

Their Refurbishment and Fit-Out division is expanding rapidly, with repeat business from major national brands including Amazon and leading high-street retailers. Projects typically range from £100k to £3m, from fast-track retail refurbishments to multi-phase redevelopment schemes, often working in live environments where safety, communication, and minimal disruption are key.

The Role

Due to continued growth, the business is seeking an experienced Contracts Manager to oversee multiple retail fit-out and refurbishment schemes across the North, operating from their Durham office.

You'll manage a small portfolio of concurrent projects, ensuring delivery to programme, budget, and quality expectations. Working closely with Project and Site Managers, you will support preconstruction planning, resource coordination, client management, and on-site performance.

Key Responsibilities

Lead multiple refurbishment and fit-out projects from pre-start to handover

Act as the main client liaison for all contractual and delivery matters

Oversee site teams and ensure compliance with H&S and quality standards

Control programme, budget, and commercial performance

Support bid preparation and preconstruction planning where required

Provide regular updates on progress, cost, risk, and project performance

About You

Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or Senior Project Manager, ideally within retail, commercial, or logistics fit-out/refurbishment

Strong track record delivering fast-track multi-project workloads

Excellent stakeholder management, leadership, and commercial skills

Knowledgeable in H&S, programme control, and contract administration

Willing to travel to sites across the region as required
