Building Surveyor

We are recruiting for an experienced Building Surveyor to work on a contract basis. The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out a range of building surveys across residential and/or commercial properties, identifying building defects, diagnosing their causes, and assessing risks in line with the Housing Health and Safety Rating System (HHSRS). Key Responsibilities

Undertake comprehensive condition surveys and building inspections.

Identify, analyse, and report on building defects, structural issues, and maintenance needs.

Carry out HHSRS inspections and clearly identify hazards and associated risks.

*

Prepare high-quality inspection reports, including clear recommendations for remedial works.

*

Advise internal teams, clients, and stakeholders on compliance, repair strategies, and property condition.

*

Monitor works associated with repairs or improvements where required.

*

Ensure all surveying tasks meet legislative, regulatory, and organisational standards.

Skills & Experience

*

Experience in building surveying, property inspections, or a related discipline.

*

Strong knowledge of building pathology and construction methods.

*

Understanding of HHSRS assessments and associated legislation (training can be provided if required).

*

Excellent report-writing, communication, and diagnostic skills.

*

Ability to work independently, manage workloads effectively, and meet deadlines.

*

Relevant professional qualification (e.g., RICS accredited degree or equivalent) desirable but not essential.

This is a long-term contract offering excellent working conditions and rates of pay
