Construction Manager – Mechanical (Data Centre Project, Germany)

Location: Germany (site-based)
Contract: 12 months (potential extension)
Start Date: Immediate / As agreed
Day Rate: Competitive (DOE)

We are seeking an experienced Construction Manager with a strong mechanical background to lead the mechanical delivery on a mission-critical data centre project in Germany. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on a high-profile project in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Delivery

* Oversee all mechanical construction activities, including HVAC systems, chilled water systems, CRAC/CRAH units, pipework, and plant installation.

* Ensure works comply with project specifications, drawings, and contractual obligations.

* Coordinate closely with electrical teams and other trades for integrated M&E delivery.

Team Leadership

* Manage and supervise site supervisors, foremen, and subcontractors.

* Allocate resources effectively and monitor workforce productivity.

* Provide technical guidance and resolve on-site issues promptly.

Health, Safety & Compliance

* Enforce strict adherence to health and safety regulations.

* Conduct regular site inspections and audits.

* Ensure all method statements, risk assessments, and permits are in place.

Planning & Reporting

* Develop short-term lookahead programs aligned with the master schedule.

* Track progress against milestones and report to the Project Manager.

* Maintain accurate site documentation and progress records.

Stakeholder Management

* Liaise with client representatives, consultants, and other contractors.

* Attend coordination meetings and provide updates on mechanical works.

Requirements

*

Minimum 3 years on data centre or mission-critical projects.

* Previous experience with an M&E contractor.

* Proven ability to manage teams and subcontractors on-site

Technical Skills

* Strong knowledge of mechanical systems for data centres (cooling systems, chilled water, HVAC, CRAC/CRAH units).

* Familiarity with German building regulations and EU standards (preferred).

* Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.

Qualifications

* Degree or diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.

* Safety certifications (e.g., NEBOSH, VCA) advantageous.

Other

* Fluent in English; German language skills highly desirable.

* Willingness to work on-site in Germany (10 on / 4 off rotation).
