Senior Quantity Surveyor – Groundworks & Civils – Bedfordshire

Salary: £80,000 – £100,000 (DOE)

Job Description:

Stridden Ltd are recruiting on behalf of a leading multi-disciplinary civil and structural contractor – covering demolition, groundworks, bulk excavation, construction, RC frames, and engineering – who are seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a driven and commercially astute QS to oversee a diverse portfolio of projects, ensuring cost control, contract compliance, and maximised project profitability. You will play a key role in supporting project delivery and helping to strengthen the company’s commercial function as they continue to grow.

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Key Responsibilities:

* Manage the commercial aspects of multiple projects across multi-disciplinary civil and structural contractor – covering demolition, groundworks, bulk excavation, construction, RC frames, and engineering

* Prepare, manage, and evaluate valuations, cost reports, and cashflow forecasts

* Oversee subcontractor procurement, negotiation, and management

* Ensure accurate measurement, BOQs, and take-offs for all project works

* Manage change control processes, variations, and compensation events

* Ensure compliance with contractual terms (JCT/NEC) and company procedures

* Work closely with project managers, site teams, and directors to support successful project delivery

* Identify cost risks, value engineering opportunities, and commercial improvements

* Prepare and submit final accounts in a timely and accurate manner

Senior Quantity Surveyor – Essential Requirements:

* Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within the groundworks, civils, or RC frames sector

* Strong understanding of commercial management, cost control, and contract administration

* Experience working on residential, commercial, or infrastructure projects

* Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills

* Strong numeracy, analytical abilities, and attention to detail

* Competent in relevant software (Excel, ERP systems, estimating/measurement tools)

* A relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or Construction Management (BSc, HNC/HND or equivalent)
