Temporary Quantity Surveyor – Social Housing Refurbishment (Kitchens & Bathrooms)

Your new role

Our client is seeking a Temporary Quantity Surveyor to support a busy programme of social housing refurbishment works, focusing primarily on kitchen and bathroom upgrades across occupied properties. You will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget, to specification, and in line with compliance and contractual requirements.

Responsibilities will include:

Managing cost control and commercial reporting across kitchen and bathroom refurbishment programmes

Preparing, reviewing, and agreeing valuations, variations, and final accounts

Liaising with contractors, site teams, and internal stakeholders to ensure accurate cost tracking

Carrying out site visits to monitor progress, verify completed works, and manage contractor performance

Analysing subcontractor quotations and negotiating rates where required

Ensuring all works are aligned with schedule of rates (SOR) and contractual obligations

Maintaining accurate financial records, forecasts, and project documentation

Supporting budget management, cost planning, and commercial decision-making

Providing commercial input to help resolve issues, delays, or cost discrepancies

Ensuring compliance with health & safety, procurement guidelines, and organisational standards

What you will need to succeed:

Previous experience as a Quantity Surveyor within social housing refurbishment

Strong knowledge of kitchens & bathrooms workstreams and SOR-based contracts

Ability to manage multiple work packages across occupied properties

Excellent commercial awareness and cost-management skills

Strong communication skills for working closely with contractors and internal teams

Proficiency with MS Excel and cost-tracking systems

Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines

Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (site travel required)
