Estimator – Ely (Cambs) – 40/50k – Attractive package
ALH Recruitment are looking to recruit an experienced Estimator with immediate effect for our client who continue to expand, based in the Ely area of Cambridgeshire.
Construction Industry experience is essential for this position.
Job Role – Estimator
To manage tendering of projects, maximising the tendered margin whilst looking at potential value engineering and successfully winning projects.
Responsibilities:
To actively tender projects that are received by the business.
To review all information received to understand the scope of works to be tendered, and to submit tenders on time to the clients’ requirements. To accurately measure relevant works to derive / validate quantities for pricing purpose and to build up tender rates from first principles on a labour, plant and material basis.
To consider potential value engineering opportunities to potential offer to clients, and obtain market rates for subcontracted works. Respond to clients queries in a timely manner and understand programme and working constraints within a tender.
You will be aware of contractual terms and potential risks to the business and be responsible for the handover meeting of secured work by passing information to the delivery team, whilst building and maintaining client relationships, and seeking opportunities for new and continued work.
Skills & Competencies Required
Essential
* Proven experience in estimating within the construction industry and in estimating works.
* Strong analytical skills with a focus on cost control and budget management.
* Proficiency in completing bill of quantities for estimation and accurate calculations.
* Capable communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively convey complex information to various stakeholders.
* Capable computer literacy (use of emails, etc.).
* Capable use of excel and word for pricing BoQ’s and writing up quotes.
* Ability to work independently as well as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
* Ability to be methodical and flexible in approach to tasks.
* Problem solving skills.
* A pro-active team member.
