Overview

Our client is delivering some of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure, combining practical delivery expertise with strategic project management to drive major programmes forward.

They are expanding their team on the Sizewell C (SZC) programme—one of the UK’s largest and most important low-carbon energy developments. Building on the success of Hinkley Point C, SZC is now under construction and will ultimately supply low-carbon power to six million homes, supporting the UK’s Net Zero goals.

Role Purpose

Reporting to a Delivery Manager, the Project Manager will support the full life-cycle delivery of a contract or specific work package, covering engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and programme management activities. You will help ensure delivery meets strict safety, quality, cost and schedule requirements.

The scope may include highways, temporary and permanent roads, utility networks, rail works, accommodation developments and other associated infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

Project Planning & Controls

* Support the development, monitoring and reporting of budgets.

* Ensure Level 3 schedules are produced, updated and aligned with overall project plans; escalate discrepancies.

* Track progress, manage change, monitor milestones and report performance using earned value and other project controls tools.

* Oversee and coordinate the deliverables list across the work package.

Delivery & Quality Assurance

* Support execution of the Programme Execution Plan (PEP) and contribute to delivery strategies.

* Coordinate with quality teams to ensure compliance with SZC quality requirements, including off-site manufacturing standards.

* Identify and resolve issues, manage risks and escalate concerns where appropriate.

* Ensure contractors meet contractual requirements and manage non-conformances and corrective actions.

Commercial & Procurement Support

* Assist commercial and procurement teams in developing sourcing strategies and tender documentation.

* Respond to supplier queries and support technical evaluations.

* Contribute to the management of EPCM activities and complex contract arrangements (NEC / FIDIC).

Stakeholder Engagement

* Maintain strong communication and collaboration with internal teams, contractors and external stakeholders.

* Support cross-programme interfaces, sharing best practice and lessons learned.

* Provide clear weekly and monthly progress updates to senior leadership.

About You

Experience

* Background in delivering technically complex projects in highly regulated environments—ideally nuclear, energy or major infrastructure.

* Strong experience in engineering design, construction delivery and multi-disciplinary project execution.

* Skilled in cost, schedule, risk and change management, including earned value.

* Capable of managing large contractors and consultants on major EPCM programmes.

* Effective communicator with strong presentation, analytical and stakeholder management skills.

* Understanding of PWR design and operations is advantageous.

Skills & Qualifications

* Degree in engineering, construction or a related field; chartered status preferred.

* Knowledge of CDM regulations.

* Experience with recognised project management frameworks such as APM or PRINCE2.

* Familiarity with nuclear quality standards and graded quality approaches.
