Quality Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to join the delivery team on a large, high-profile civil engineering project in Plymouth. The role will focus on ensuring all works are delivered to the highest quality standards, fully compliant with project specifications, industry standards and client requirements.
This is a long-term position offering stability, professional growth and involvement in a complex, multi-disciplinary programme of works.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and implement all Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures on site.
Prepare, review and manage ITPs, check sheets, NCRs, and associated quality documentation.
Conduct inspections of civil works including RC structures, drainage, utilities, highways and earthworks.
Coordinate with Site Engineers and Construction teams to ensure correct installation and compliance.
Liaise with the client, designer and management regarding quality issues and resolutions.
Carry out root cause analysis, implement corrective actions and drive continuous improvement.
Maintain accurate, up-to-date quality records and contribute to handover documentation.
Support audits (internal and external) and ensure full adherence to project QA processes. Requirements
HNC/HND or degree in Civil Engineering, Construction, or related discipline.
Significant experience in a Quality Engineer or QA/QC role within major civils or infrastructure.
Strong knowledge of QA procedures and construction quality standards.
Experience working with ITPs, NCRs, RFI systems and digital quality platforms.
CSCS card essential; additional QA or auditing qualifications advantageous.
Excellent communication, attention to detail and documentation skills.
Ability to challenge, advise and support site teams on quality matters
