Building Safety Manager
A client within the Public Sector based in Greater Manchester is currently recruiting for a Building Safety Manager to join their Housing Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority within a building safety/compliance environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to lead and manage consistent and high-quality building safety management, ensuring that all statutory and non-statutory requirements are met in line with current building legislation, including the Building Safety Act 2020. You will provide expert guidance and oversee building safety compliance across Manchester City Council’s housing stock.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
• Managing building safety across portfolio buildings, ensuring coordinated compliance.
• Supporting the delivery of compliance programmes including fire, asbestos, gas, electrical, legionella and lift safety.
• Acting as the competent person for building safety and promoting compliance culture across the organisation.
• Ensuring robust contract management and procurement of building safety works.
• Preparing and reporting on fire safety data and compliance performance.
• Liaising with internal stakeholders and external partners, such as GMFRS, tenants and contractors.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require:
• A relevant Fire Safety, Asset Management or Construction qualification (e.g. NEBOSH National Certificate or equivalent).
• Extensive project management experience in building safety environments.
• Strong understanding of relevant legislation including the Fire Safety Regulatory Reform Order 2005 and Building Safety Act 2020.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
• Chartered membership of CIH or CIOB and a degree or equivalent in housing management or construction.
• Experience managing a team and delivering change management initiatives.
• Excellent communication, influencing and leadership skills, particularly during emergency situations.
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such is offering £375 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £325 per day PAYE).
