Senior Surveyor Required To Lead Team Of Junior Surveyors In NI, UK and ROI

Hays are delighted to be partnered with our client in their search for a Senior Surveyor to head up and oversee a team of Surveyors over NI, ROI and the UK.
Our client is a respected arranger of 10 year Structural Defect Insurance, and pride themselves on providing their clients with a premium service. The company is continually growing and is passionate about recruiting people who are driven and focused. Their goal is to build a dynamic team that can contribute to the development of the successful business.
The role will be hybrid- 3 days based at their head office in Portadown, on-site and 2 days from home. However will require occasional travel to ROI and the UK.
Your new role
The role requires a highly motivated and driven individual who can grow, develop, and lead a team of surveyors. This includes supporting their professional development to ensure efficiency and effectiveness, while aligning with the company’s goals and meeting the expectations of internal and external stakeholders.
Key Roles and Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
– Contributing as a member of the company’s management team
-Effectively managing the surveying team, ensuring survey reports meet professional, technical, industry, insurer, and building regulation standards, and are completed on time and accurately.
– Monitoring the team’s workload using tools and internal systems to track performance data
– Holding regular performance discussions
-Overseeing the lead management of the Surveying function in alignment with business objectives.
– Handle employee relations within the surveying team, including conducting annual appraisals, monitoring workloads, and ensuring efficient staff management across all employee relations aspects.
– Delegating to competent team members to maintain key departmental functions during absences
– Develop and implement surveying department policies, procedures, and protocols in compliance with legal standards and organisational needs, and ensuring employees follow these protocols.
– Identifying the need for training and implementing training programmes
– Coaching the surveyors about quality of work, as well as mentoring those pursuing professional qualifications and CPD management of the surveyors
– Perform desktop audits of surveyors’ reports and workloads using the BERTIE system to ensure efficiency and feasibility
– Stay informed on building regulations and update surveyors on relevant changes or points of interest
– Maintain the required CPD levels for inspections by conducting site inspections, sign-offs, building client relationships, and attending meetings
– Provide on-site and remote advice to the survey and administration teams.
– Collaborate on potential tender submissions with the Head of Retail Sales and external parties as needed.
– Investigate and manage potential new business opportunities related to surveying, such as Building Control or homebuyer reports, and report progress to Directors.
What you’ll need to succeed
The successful individual will be required to have a 3rd level qualification in Building Surveying or a relevant discipline. You will need a minimum of 5 years experience surveying in construction or a related role. A minimum of 3 years experience of managing a team is essential. You should also have experience of leading and delivering service improvements within a surveying role. A full membership of RICS (MRICS) is also required.
It is preferred that the ideal candidate will have experience working and managing within a warranty sector.
Other essential requirements are:
– A full clean driving licence
-Excellent oral and written communication skills
– Strong organisational and time management skills.
– Ability to prioritise work in order to meet strict deadlines
– Ability to work on your own initiative
– IT Literate and proficient in MS Packages
– Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
– Willingness to travel when required
What you’ll get in return
The company is offering a 35-hour working week, Monday-Friday, and a generous starting salary of £50,000.
