Salary: Between £75,000 – £80,000
Job Summary
We are representing a leading engineering and maintenance provider, supporting customers across various sectors including chemical, petrochemical, nuclear, oil and gas, pharmaceuticals, power and energy, utilities, renewables, and food and beverage.
We are seeking a Lead Mechanical and Piping Engineer to join our team and lead the design and implementation of mechanical and piping systems in multi-discipline engineering projects.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical and piping design within multi-discipline engineering projects (EPCM or EPC)
- Act as the technical authority for the mechanical and piping discipline, supporting the Engineering Manager in achieving business targets
- Manage and complete mechanical and piping engineering and design within budget and planning, including change control and consistency with other disciplines
- Be client-facing and manage client expectations regarding project scope and deliverables
- Participate in internal and external design reviews and ensure design acceptance by the client
- Oversee the quality of mechanical and piping engineering and design
- Lead projects in a multi-discipline environment, coordinating mechanical and piping engineering and design with other disciplines (e.g., civil and structural, process and automation)
- Carry out, check, and approve engineering and design estimates, control and report costs on allocated projects
- Develop and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, BOMs, and assembly instructions
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting for mechanical and piping systems
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical and piping engineering, preferably in a multi-discipline environment
- Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) for creating detailed technical drawings
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
- Strong communication and teamwork abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently
- Willingness to travel to project sites as required
