Role Purpose:
You will support and lead the pre-construction phase of Tier II projects (values up to £10m), working closely with the Head of Projects and pre-construction team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for career development in mission critical engineering services, particularly in data centre projects.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support the pre-construction team on enquiries, technical design, estimation, and scope development.
* Lead the pre-construction phase of awarded projects from award to delivery handover.
* Ensure technical and pricing submission deadlines are met.
* Manage commercial performance requirements and ensure alignment with business sign-off.
* Provide support to delivery and operational teams as needed.
* Lead and coordinate design development through RIBA Stages 3–5.
* Identify opportunities for value engineering.
* Ensure technical designs comply with industry and client standards.
* Manage and mitigate commercial and design risk during early project stages.
* Chair design workshops and team meetings.
* Attend and host on-site meetings, walk-throughs, and site surveys.
* Manage stakeholders including clients, consultants, design partners, and subcontractors.
* Collaborate with procurement on essential equipment and services.
* Develop pre-construction and tender programmes for resource planning and costs.
Experience & Qualifications:
* Degree, HNC, or HND in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering (or related discipline).
* Minimum 5 years’ progressive M&E engineering experience, ideally in critical infrastructure.
* Experience with AutoCAD/Revit and project scheduling software (ASTA Powerproject, P6, MS Project) is beneficial but not essential.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel).
* Data centre installation experience is desirable but not essential.
