Stride Recruitment are urgently recruiting a Project Manager to oversee the planning, execution, and completion of their residential and commercial building projects for a main contractor specialising in residential and commercial construction across the UK, based in Manchester.

Key responsibilities:

* Project planning: You would create detailed plans for each construction phase, defining the project's scope, identifying key milestones, and setting realistic schedules.

* Budget management: This involves creating and managing the project's financial plan. You would track all expenses, implement cost-saving measures, and ensure costs do not exceed the budget.

* Team leadership: Mellior projects involve a range of subcontractors and internal teams. You would manage, motivate, and direct personnel to ensure tasks are completed correctly and on schedule.

* Stakeholder liaison: You would be the central point of contact for architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients. This includes regular reporting on progress, addressing concerns, and ensuring communication flows smoothly.

* Procurement: You would manage the procurement process, which includes sourcing materials, selecting subcontractors, and negotiating contracts.

* Quality and safety assurance: Ensuring compliance with UK health and safety legislation is non-negotiable. You would conduct regular site inspections and verify that all work is performed to the highest quality standards.

* Risk management: This involves identifying potential risks to the project and implementing proactive measures to mitigate them before they cause delays or budget overruns.

* Regulatory compliance: You would coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure the project meets all necessary building codes and environmental regulations.

Academic qualifications:

* Engineering education: Candidates should have a minimum of an HNC in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering. A degree in a relevant engineering discipline, such as civil engineering, is also often required.

* Contracts knowledge: Proven knowledge of NEC contracts (often version 3 or 4) and JCT contracts is necessary for managing commercial aspects and scope changes.

* Certifications: Specific safety and site management certifications are key requirements:

* Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS): A qualification for site managers to develop and implement health and safety procedures on-site.

* Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) Card: Demonstrates that a worker has the training and qualifications for the type of work they carry out.

* Professional accreditation: For some roles, Melior Group prefers or requires candidates to be a Chartered Engineer or to be working toward professional accreditation with an appropriate engineering institution.
