Mechanical Estimator – M&E Building Services – Portsmouth area
Salary: £55,000 – £70,000 + Car Allowance and Benefits Package
This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator to join a highly respected M&E Building Services contractor delivering projects typically ranging from £500k to £6m across the commercial, office fit out, healthcare, education, industrial, and leisure sectors.
The company has an excellent reputation for delivering high quality mechanical building services installations including HVAC, heating and cooling systems, plantroom upgrades, pipework, public health services, and full M&E refurbishment works. The Role
As a Mechanical Estimator, you will be responsible for:
* Preparing accurate and competitive tenders for mechanical building services projects
* Completing material take offs, equipment schedules, and labour calculations
* Reviewing drawings, specifications, and client requirements
* Liaising with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain quotations
* Identifying value engineering opportunities and technical solutions
* Supporting pre construction and operational teams throughout the tender process
* Working to tight deadlines while maintaining a high standard of accuracy
About You
* Previous experience working as a Mechanical Estimator or Senior Mechanical Estimator
* A strong background with mechanical or M&E building services contractors
* Good technical understanding of HVAC systems, heating and cooling plant, pipework, and associated building services
* The ability to review drawings, interpret specifications, and prepare detailed tender returns
* Strong communication and organisational skills
* A full UK driving licence
Candidates from FM or maintenance backgrounds will not be suitable for this position, as experience within mechanical installation contracting is essential.
