The Opportunity

An industry-leading specialist contractor is seeking an Assistant Estimator to join their pre-construction team in London. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early-stage estimating or QS experience who wants to step into a structured environment, develop technical pricing skills, and work across major RC frame and rail civil engineering schemes.

You’ll support senior estimators in tender management, take-offs, pricing concrete structures, and assessing rail-related civils packages. The role offers direct exposure to complex projects, excellent progression, and the chance to work with a business known for delivering major projects across the capital.

Key Responsibilities

Assist in preparing tenders for RC frame and rail civil engineering packages

Produce accurate take-offs and quantity schedules

Support cost planning, bill production, and pricing exercises

Analyse drawings, specifications, and client documentation

Liaise internally with engineers, planners, and the commercial team

Maintain tender registers and ensure documentation is complete and accurate

Contribute to handover packs for successful bids

Requirements

Experience as an Assistant Estimator, Junior Estimator, Trainee Estimator. 

Background in RC frame, reinforced concrete structures, and rail. 

Strong analytical and numerical ability

Ability to interpret drawings and technical documentation

Confident communication skills and willingness to learn from senior team members

Proficiency with estimating or take-off software beneficial (e.g., Bluebeam, Excel, CostX)
