We are looking for enthusiastic individuals to join our ever-growing academic team, enhancing our academic presence whilst ensuring an outstanding student experience. As a Teaching Fellow, you will undertake a key academic position within the School of the Built Environment at UCEM, teaching across modules offered on the Building Surveying, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying and Real Estate programmes, all within a wholly online environment. This is a pivotal and very exciting time for UCEM as we continue to embark on our journey to become the Centre of Excellence for Built Environment Education, and this brand-new role is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to our research and sustainability ambitions.
Your accountabilities and responsibilities include:
• Act as an academic adviser to students, including review, feedback, and academic support
• As part of the wider team, support teaching and learning strategies and engage in development activity
• Supervise student projects and associated marking tasks
• Make an active contribution to and support the improvement of the student experience.
• Create and update curriculum materials
Our main requirements:
• Degree level qualification in a Built Environment discipline or cognate subject
• Doctoral level qualification (awarded, or expected to be awarded within 6 months of appointment)
• Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching in Higher Education or equivalent (newly appointed lecturers who do not hold this will be required to achieve this within 12 months of appointment)
• Teaching of construction/quantity surveying/valuation at Higher Education level
• Experience of research project supervision
