ABOUT THE COMPANY
A leading civil engineering contractor with a strong reputation for delivering complex infrastructure projects across Scotland is seeking an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their growing commercial team in Glasgow. The business works across major highways, utilities, energy, marine, structures, and large-scale civil engineering works, with a full order book of secured long-term projects.
This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially driven QS to step into a senior role with autonomy, influence, and excellent career progression.
THE ROLE
As Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take the commercial lead across a portfolio of civil engineering projects, ensuring effective cost management, contract administration, and commercial reporting throughout the full project lifecycle. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, clients, and subcontractors to ensure successful commercial delivery and strong financial performance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Lead commercial management across civil engineering projects from pre-construction to final account.
*
Prepare and submit interim valuations, applications for payment, and accurate cost/value reconciliations.
*
Manage change control including early warnings, variations, compensation events, and claims.
*
Administer NEC contracts and advise project teams on contractual obligations and commercial risk.
*
Produce cost forecasts, cashflows, and monthly commercial reports for senior management.
*
Procure, negotiate, and manage subcontractor packages, including payments and final accounts.
*
Identify commercial risks and opportunities, providing strategic recommendations.
*
Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, consultants, and project stakeholders.
*
Ensure compliance with company commercial processes, governance, and reporting standards.
ABOUT YOU
Essential:
*
Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering, infrastructure, or utilities.
*
Strong understanding of NEC contracts (Options A, C & E desirable).
*
Ability to manage commercial delivery on multi-million-pound civil engineering schemes.
*
Excellent negotiation, communication, and numerical skills.
*
Strong reporting capability and commercial acumen.
*
Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline (or equivalent experience).
Desirable:
*
Experience in energy, renewables, grid connections, or heavy civils.
*
Chartered or working towards RICS/ICES.
*
Experience working with top-tier or major regional contractors.
