Quantity Surveyor

Overview
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join a well-established civil engineering contractor. This is a key commercial role, responsible for managing all financial aspects of projects from pre-contract through to final account, ensuring value for money while maintaining the highest standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
* Preparation of tenders, bills of quantities and contract documentation
* Pre and post-contract cost management, reporting and forecasting
* Development of cost plans, budgets and cash flow forecasts
* Risk and value management and commercial risk mitigation
* Subcontractor procurement, quotations and contract administration
* Preparation of interim valuations, final accounts and payment certifications
* Supporting the preparation of contractual claims and variations
* Producing commercial progress reports
* Maintaining full compliance with current forms of civil engineering contracts
* Ongoing liaison with site teams, suppliers and clients
* Maintaining document logs and commercial records
* Using commercial software including EasyEarthworks, Excel, Word, Project, Constructa and Entropy
Requirements
Essential:
* Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Quantity Surveyor or Estimator within construction or civil engineering
* HND or higher qualification in Quantity Surveying
* Strong understanding of the full project lifecycle
* Excellent commercial awareness and financial acumen
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Solid problem-solving and organisational skills
* IT literate – intermediate Microsoft Office
* Ability to work on own initiative and meet deadlines
* Strong understanding of management systems and ISO standards
Desirable:
* Recognised Project Management qualification
* Previous site supervisory experience
* Experience using civil engineering commercial software
