Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Main Contractor

High Rise Residential Project

Permanent: Up to £50,000 + Package

Location: East London

We are currently searching for an ambitious Assistant Quantity Surveyor who is looking to take the next step in their career. This main contractor is at the forefront of construction innovation and, following recent project wins, is expanding their commercial team.

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the Senior QS and Commercial Manager in delivering high-rise residential schemes across London and the South East, gaining invaluable exposure to all aspects of cost management and project delivery.

The Role:

* Assist in the preparation of cost plans, valuations, and final accounts.

* Support procurement activities, including tendering and subcontractor management.

* Monitor project costs, variations, and cash flow to ensure financial control.

* Prepare and review interim applications and payment certificates.

* Work closely with site teams to track progress and manage commercial risks.

* Maintain accurate records of project expenditure and contractual correspondence.

* Contribute to value engineering exercises and cost-saving initiatives.

* Ensure compliance with company procedures, contracts, and industry standards.

Experience Required:

* 1–3 years’ experience in a quantity surveying role, ideally with a main contractor.

* Exposure to high-rise residential, hotel, or PBSA projects is desirable.

* Strong numerical and analytical skills with attention to detail.

* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

* A proactive team player eager to learn and progress.
