The chosen candidate will play a critical role in shaping the client’s future, supporting the planning and execution of strategically important projects within a live airport operational environment.
These projects will encompass work on runways, taxiways, aprons, roads, and various utilities in both airside and landside environments.
Your new role
The Project Supervisor will be primarily responsible for overseeing and planning works to meet the prescribed Key Performance Indicators in relation to Programme, Quality, Safety, Environment, and Budget.
The main duties will include (but are not limited to)
- Delivering the front-line supervision and management of reconfiguration and extension projects, side by side with the ongoing maintenance and assessments of infrastructure.
- Assisting the Project Manager and Senior Management in handling the logistical, technical, and commercial aspects of the project(s) to align with the overall business objectives.
- Design, procurement, construction and delivery support within the project team, and handover of the project to achieve desired business results.
- Act as the primary day-to-day point of contact for contractors and facilitate communication between departments, business partners and consultants. This role involves conducting daily and weekly briefings. You will be required to demonstrate accurate record keeping, and communicate lookahead schedules to stakeholders.
- Foster and uphold a culture of outstanding health, safety, and environmental standards within the project delivery team as well as across the business. Ensure that associated contractors achieve and maintain the highest levels of health, safety, and environmental performance possible.
- Assist in identifying and reducing risks that may adversely impact works delivery or operations.
- Ensure all legal and statutory obligations relevant to this role are adhered to, including standards, code compliance, and required planning permissions. This includes those governed by the UK Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
- Effectively engage and influence key stakeholders, both internal and external, associated with the project.
- Play an active part in lessons Identified process across all projects and implement a culture of continuous improvement.
- Troubleshooting between all departments, business partners, consultants, and contractors.
- Flexibility with hours of work in order to facilitate any out-of-hours activity as and when required.
- Appropriately respond/assist with any emergency situations, and participate in any Emergency Exercise, in accordance with the Emergency Orders within the aerodrome manual.

What you’ll need to succeed
To be successful with your application for this role, you should be well-presented in a confident manner. You should be in good health with a good attendance record, and be successful in passing the company’s medical tests, which include drug & alcohol screening, and an eye examination. You will be required to have a minimum of a Level 6 qualification in a relevant engineering / construction discipline.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication, time management and analytical skills. Strong problem-solving skills are essential, with the ability to plan and maintain direction, and display a good sense of judgement and decision-making skills on when to seek senior direction.
A qualification in Project Management or Civil Engineering is desired but not essential.
You will need a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the construction / building sector as part of a project delivery team. Experience in the following duties is also essential:
- Record keeping
- Report writing / works lookahead programmes
- Working within a Quality Control / Quality Assurance system
- Experience of works in safety critical environments
- Software packages such as MS Word, Outlook & Excel
- Experience in collating, interpreting and reporting on datasets
- Working knowledge of The Construction (Design & Management) Regulations (CDM 2015)
- Working knowledge of Good Housekeeping practices
You will also need a full and clean driving licence, access to your own transport and CSCS, CSR, SafePass or equivalent construction industry card.
Other criteria for this role that is desirable but not essential includes, experience managing budgets, aviation industry experience, experience in pavement design and/or construction and experience of software packages AutoCAD, BIM, MS Project or equivalent.
