Freelance Site Engineer
Location: Doncaster, South Yorkshire
Start Date: January 2026
Duration: 4-5 months

I am recruiting for an experienced Freelance Site Engineer to join a well-established civils and groundworks subcontractor delivering major packages on a large-scale industrial unit in Doncaster. This is a long-term opportunity starting in January 2026, working on a high-profile project for a Tier 1 main contractor.

Role & Responsibilities

• Setting Out: Drainage, Foundations, HD Bolts, Slabs, Externals, Attenuation
• Producing and maintaining accurate site records and as-built drawings
• Quality assurance, ITPs, and ensuring works are delivered to specification
• Assisting with permits, RAMS, and temporary works where required
• Liaising with the site management team, designers, and the Tier 1 contractor
• Ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, and to budget

Requirements

• Proven experience as a Site Engineer on civils and groundworks projects
• Background working for subcontractors on large industrial / commercial schemes
• Strong setting out skills with GPS/Total Station
• CSCS card (essential)
• SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable)
• Full UK driving license
• Strong communication and reporting skills
