Design Manager

Contract Scotland

I’m working with a well-established main contractor in Central Scotland who is looking to appoint an experienced Design Manager to join their technical team. With a strong reputation and a solid pipeline of work across both public and private sectors, this is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to take the next step in their career with a respected industry leader.

As Design Manager, you’ll play a crucial role in guiding projects from tender through to handover, ensuring technical excellence and smooth coordination throughout the design process. You’ll be involved in a range of new build design and build schemes that will test and develop both your leadership and technical capabilities.

Key responsibilities:
– Manage the full design development process, from tender concept through to detailed design and delivery, within a main contracting environment.
– Lead and coordinate design meetings with clients, consultants, and key project stakeholders.
– Review design information, identifying risks, opportunities, and value-engineering solutions.
– Maintain strong commercial awareness, understanding how design decisions impact cost and programme.
– Ensure designs align with relevant standards, including a solid understanding of BREEAM requirements.

About you:
– Proven experience in a Design Manager role within a main contractor setting.
– Confident communicator with the ability to lead multidisciplinary technical discussions.
– Strong technical background with the ability to interrogate design information.
– Commercially aware, organised, and proactive in driving design solutions.

What’s on offer:
– Competitive salary aligned with experience.
– Comprehensive benefits package.
– Opportunity to join a busy contractor with a track record of internal development and progression.
– A varied portfolio of projects across Central Scotland.

If you’re an experienced Design Manager looking for a new challenge in the local market, I’d love to hear from you!
