The Role – Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed and accurate tenders for structural steel and cladding projects.

Review and interpret drawings, specifications, BOQs, models, and project data to produce high-quality estimates.

Source and analyse subcontractor and supplier quotations, identifying risks, ambiguities, and opportunities.

Liaise with design teams, main contractors, clients, and internal departments.

Work closely with the estimating manager, production, site teams, and directors to create complete and competitive tenders.

Ensure all project elements are considered before submission.

Identify value engineering options and cost-saving opportunities.

Complete tender documentation and ensure compliance with company procedures.

Carry out material take-offs and estimate labour, materials, equipment, crane, and MEWP costs.

Prepare project budgets and handover information once contracts are secured.

Use sound judgement and industry knowledge to build full cost estimates with appropriate profit margins.

Prepare proposals using company templates and compile full bid submissions.

Engage proactively with clients and contractors to secure new orders.

Conduct site visits to evaluate project conditions and requirements.

Qualifications

Degree in Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.

Minimum 5 years' experience estimating within the structural steel industry.

The Ideal Candidate

At least 5 years' estimating experience in the structural steel sector.

Experience working on multi-storey steel projects.

Strong understanding of the UK/Ireland construction and steel industry.

Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills.

Commercially astute with strong problem-solving abilities.

High level of accuracy, confidentiality, and attention to detail.

Strong negotiation and communication skills (written & verbal).

Confident working with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Proficient in Excel and Word; experience with Tekla and Navisworks is advantageous.

Working Model

Hybrid: 2 days working from home, 3 days in the office (Ireland).
