As an Assistant Technical Manager, your day might begin by collaborating with one of our Project Leads to ensure that design quality, building safety, or sustainability priorities are being met across Peabody’s programme of projects. Next, you could attend a key design review meeting with stakeholders to assess a project’s adherence to our design standards and processes, offering your technical expertise and expert opinion. Later, you might conduct research to benchmark new design strategies or systems to promote innovation in response to Peabody’s vision.
Peabody’s approach to quality and design is to set ourselves apart from our peers through making better design decisions and quality judgements. At Peabody, we are aware of the importance of a great start to a project as well as the continuity of vision and influence during design and construction. To support this, we are continually improving our design guidance and briefing processes, underpinned by thorough and robust technical standards and requirements. Making better long-term, whole lifecycle decisions for our building elements benefits our residents, our operations and maintenance teams, and ensures Peabody’s sustainable future.
As an Assistant Technical Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in driving Peabody’s design and technical standards across our projects, collaborating with internal teams and external consultants to ensure our homes are safe, sustainable, inclusive, desirable, and viable for all our residents. Your role will focus on driving continuous improvement in the way we brief design, evolve our standards and processes, and implement new ways of working through robust change control.
By providing technical expertise, you will navigate complex regulatory and societal change, ensuring projects respond to Peabody’s vision. Engaging with the industry and our supply chain partners, you’ll foster innovation, conduct research, and lead whole lifecycle options appraisals, benchmarking against emerging industry trends. By adding value at key project touchpoints, you will ensure design quality is upheld while addressing risks across a project’s lifecycle. Your research will include the review and evaluation of materials, systems, and construction methods for their suitability and innovation, while promoting a positive health and safety culture.
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring:
- A recognised qualification in architecture, construction, engineering, or another related design discipline, with proven value-added contributions to past projects.
- An appreciation for detail and strong technical knowledge, with the ability to clearly explain design implications in terms of time, cost, risk, and opportunity, to varied audiences.
- A proactive approach to fostering innovation and engaging with industry trends to meet changing demands.
- Excellent collaboration and communication skills, with a strategic mindset for solving complex challenges.
- A passion for design, quality, innovation, and resident-centric solutions.
If you’re passionate about great design, technical excellence, and making a difference to the lives of Peabody’s residents, we’d love to hear from you.
