Role: Plant Manager

Location: North London

Salary: £40,000 – £45,000 (DOE)

Why This Role

Due to continued growth, Spencer & James Recruitment are working in partnership with a well-established multi-disciplinary main contractor to recruit an experienced Plant Manager.

This is a key operational role supporting multiple live projects, ensuring plant, equipment, and materials are managed efficiently, safely, and cost-effectively across sites.

If you are experienced in plant control, warehouse management, and supporting site operations within a main contractor environment, this role offers long-term stability and progression.

What You’ll Be Doing

* Managing the day-to-day operation of the company’s plant, warehouse, and stores

* Overseeing company-owned plant and equipment, ensuring accurate tracking and availability

* Carrying out weekly, monthly, and quarterly plant and stock takes

* Managing deliveries, returns, and site clearances in line with project requirements

* Updating the plant management system (e.g. Hilti or equivalent) when plant is issued, returned, purchased, or written off

* Testing and refurbishing returned plant where possible and arranging external refurbishment when required

* Producing and issuing monthly plant availability reports to Project and Site Managers

* Liaising with Procurement and Logistics teams to coordinate plant deliveries and returns

* Ensuring all plant and materials are stored safely, securely, and in compliance with SHEQ requirements

* Reporting damaged, lost, or unusable plant and materials in line with company procedures

What We’re Looking For

* Previous experience in a Plant Manager, Plant Coordinator, or Stores Manager role within construction

* Experience working for a main contractor or within a multi-disciplinary construction environment

* Strong knowledge of construction plant, tools, and materials

* Experience using plant or asset management systems

* Strong organisational and communication skills

* A proactive, detail-focused approach with a strong safety mindset
