Design Manager – Refurbishment, Cladding & Fire Remediation

Location: North London

Working Pattern: Hybrid – 3 days office / 2 days work from home

I am seeking an experienced Design Manager to join a growing team delivering complex refurbishment, cladding and fire remediation projects across Greater London. This role is ideal for a design professional with a strong technical background and proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams in a regulated environment. This company is cash rich and have a huge pipeline of work. 

The Role

As Design Manager, you will take ownership of the design process from pre-construction through to completion, ensuring compliance, quality and buildability across all stages of delivery. You will work closely with commercial, construction and external consultant teams to ensure designs are coordinated, risk-managed and aligned with programme and budget requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate the design process for refurbishment, cladding and fire remediation projects

Lead design development through RIBA stages, ensuring statutory and regulatory compliance

Manage external consultants and specialist designers

Ensure designs comply with current Building Regulations, fire safety legislation and industry standards

Identify and manage design risk, value engineering and buildability reviews

Support tender processes, technical submissions and contractor proposals

Maintain clear communication with internal stakeholders, clients and project teams

Ensure accurate design information is issued in line with programme requirements

About You

Proven experience as a Design Manager within refurbishment, cladding and/or fire remediation projects

Strong understanding of fire safety, façade systems and remediation works

Experience working within occupied buildings and live environments is highly desirable

Excellent knowledge of Building Regulations, Approved Documents and fire safety standards

Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously

Strong communication, coordination and stakeholder management skills

Relevant construction or design qualification preferred
