The Company

A well-established Midlands-based construction contractor with over 40 years of industry experience is seeking a Civils Estimator to join its pre-construction team. The business delivers high-quality projects across the residential, commercial, and industrial sectors and is recognised for its bespoke, hands-on approach and commitment to quality.

Working closely with clients from the earliest stages of project development, the company provides detailed budget advice against outline proposals, followed by meticulous costing and high-quality delivery on site. Its collaborative culture, technical expertise, and focus on customer satisfaction have resulted in long-standing client relationships and repeat business.

The Role

The Civils Estimator will be responsible for preparing accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil engineering and groundwork packages. The role plays a key part in shaping successful tenders and supporting the delivery of well-planned, buildable projects.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed cost estimates for civil engineering and groundwork works

*

Undertake quantity take-offs from drawings, specifications, and tender documents

*

Build up rates for labour, plant, and materials

*

Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations

*

Identify risks, opportunities, and value engineering options

*

Prepare tender submissions, clarifications, and supporting documentation

*

Work closely with pre-construction, commercial, and delivery teams

*

Support tender handover to project teams

Key Requirements

*

Previous experience as a Civils Estimator or in a similar estimating role

*

Strong understanding of groundworks, drainage, roads, utilities, and external works

*

Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications

*

Strong numerical, analytical, and organisational skills

*

Proficient in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
