Mechanical Contracts Manager
Location: Derby (Projects Nationwide)
A well-established, Derby-based family-run Building Services Contractor, delivering mechanical solutions across commercial, retail and industrial projects throughout the Midlands and UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking to appoint an experienced Mechanical Contracts Manager to strengthen their delivery team.
The Role
The Mechanical Contracts Manager will be responsible for managing 5–10 live projects simultaneously, with values from £20k upwards, taking ownership of the full mechanical package. Projects typically include commercial, retail and industrial installations and refurbishments, including CAT A & CAT B fit-outs.
This role is suitable for candidates who are strong all-round mechanical managers, or those with a bias towards HVAC / AC & Ventilation or Plumbing & Heating, provided they are confident overseeing complete mechanical scopes.
Key Responsibilities

Manage multiple mechanical projects from pre-construction through to completion

Oversee full mechanical packages including HVAC, air conditioning, ventilation, plumbing and heating
*
Regular site visits across commercial, retail and industrial sites to monitor progress and quality
*
Coordinate labour, subcontractors and material procurement in line with programme requirements
*
Work closely with the Commercial Manager to control budgets, variations, valuations and final accounts
*
Ensure all works are delivered safely, on programme and within budget
*
Attend site, client and internal progress meetings
*
Office-based in Derby 1–2 days per week, with remaining time spent across live projects
Requirements
*
Previous experience as a Mechanical Contracts Manager / Mechanical Project Manager / HVAC Contracts Manager
*
Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently (5–10 projects)
*
Background in commercial, retail and/or industrial building services projects
*
Strong technical understanding of mechanical building services (full package or discipline bias considered)
*
Ideally qualified to ONC / HNC / HND in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering
*
Strong organisational, communication and commercial awareness

Salary between £45,000 – £60,000, dependent on experience
