Design Manager

We are working with a well-established UK & Ireland main contractor delivering high-quality, large-scale new build and refurbishment projects across London and the South East. Due to growth within the design team, we are recruiting for an experienced Design Manager to oversee design coordination and delivery across complex construction schemes.

This Design Manager role is suited to someone with strong technical knowledge and experience managing design on both new build and refurbishment projects. The position is not suitable for candidates from a Tier 1 background, as the business operates in a more agile, hands-on environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing the design process throughout the project lifecycle

*

Coordinating internal teams, architects, engineers, and consultants

*

Reviewing drawings, specifications, and technical submissions for accuracy and feasibility

*

Leading design workshops and technical reviews

*

Ensuring design solutions align with programme, cost, and client requirements

*

Supporting bid teams with design input for new projects

*

Acting as the main point of contact for design-related queries on site

Experience & Requirements:

*

Proven experience as a Design Manager or similar design coordination role

*

Strong experience across new build and refurbishment projects

*

Experience managing multidisciplinary design teams

*

Technical understanding of construction processes and materials

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

*

Experience within a non–Tier 1 contractor environment preferred
