Senior Quantity Surveyor – Tier 1 Main Contractor (Commercial Build)

Location: Bury St Edmunds 

Salary: £80-£85k + benefits 

I’m currently working in partnership with a top-10, Tier 1 main contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to strengthen their commercial team. This contractor is a recognised market leader in large-scale commercial build projects, offering long-term stability, high-profile work, and genuine career progression.

This is a key senior role, suited to a commercially astute QS who is comfortable taking ownership of projects and leading commercial performance from pre-construction through to final account.

The role will include:

Full commercial management of major commercial construction projects

Leading cost control, procurement, and subcontractor management

Managing valuations, variations, and final accounts

Advising project teams on commercial strategy and risk

Mentoring and supporting junior commercial staff

Working closely with operational and senior leadership teams

What my client is looking for:

Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor with a Tier 1 or large main contractor

Strong background in commercial build projects

Excellent knowledge of standard forms of contract

Confident stakeholder and subcontractor management skills

Experience on the DfE framework is highly advantageous, though not essential
