Freelance Design Manager
Location: Hackney, London
Project: New Build Hotel
Contract: Freelance
Duration: 18 months

We are seeking an experienced Freelance Design Manager to join a long-term project team on an exciting new build hotel development in Hackney.

This is a key role overseeing the design process from pre-construction through delivery, ensuring coordination across all disciplines and alignment with programme, cost, and quality expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage and coordinate the design process across all stages of the project

*

Lead design team meetings and act as the main point of contact for consultants

*

Ensure design information is issued in line with the construction programme

*

Review and manage design risk, compliance, and buildability

*

Coordinate with commercial, planning, and construction teams

*

Manage design changes and ensure timely approvals

*

Ensure all designs comply with statutory regulations and employer’s requirements

Requirements:

*

Proven experience as a Design Manager on new build projects, ideally within the hotel or residential sector

*

Strong knowledge of design coordination, technical delivery, and construction processes

*

Ability to work independently in a freelance capacity

*

Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

*

Experience working on London-based projects preferred
