Clerk Of Works
Involve Recruitment are seeking a highly experienced and technically proficient Clerk of Works to join our quality and compliance team. This role requires an individual with significant experience in complex construction quality assurance, particularly focused on façade remediation, external wall systems (EWS), and fire safety compliance. The successful candidate will act as the eyes and ears for the client, ensuring all site work, materials, and installations strictly adhere to design specifications, UK Building Regulations, and fire safety standards across high-profile, nationwide projects.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality and Technical Assurance
*
Conduct regular, detailed site inspections of construction works, with a primary focus on rainscreen, EWI cladding, external wall systems, and remedial façade works on high-rise residential and commercial blocks.

Identify, document, and track all defects, deficiencies, and non-conformities from initial observation through to satisfactory resolution.
*
Verify that all materials and components used on site comply with the approved design drawings, specifications, contractual requirements, and UK regulatory standards.
*
Witness and confirm the satisfactory completion of on-site testing and quality benchmarking activities.
2. Fire Safety and Compliance Specialism
*
Perform specialised inspections on fire stopping systems and fire doors, ensuring strict adherence to approved design and regulatory requirements.
*
Review and ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, specifically those pertaining to fire safety in high-risk buildings.
*
Provide clear technical guidance to site teams, contractors, and stakeholders based on expertise in fire safety and remedial works.
3. Reporting and Stakeholder Management
*
Develop and deliver comprehensive, factual, and timely quality reports covering construction progress, quality control findings, health & safety observations, and defect status to all relevant stakeholders.

Actively participate in site progress meetings, confidently presenting observations, influencing decisions, and driving corrective action where necessary.

Maintain accurate site records, photographic evidence, and documentation pertaining to all inspections and compliance checks.
*
Collaborate constructively with site management, design teams, and clients, ensuring clear communication and positive working relationships while maintaining the ability to constructively challenge non-compliant practices.
Qualifications and Experience
*
Extensive experience (5+ years) as a Clerk of Works, Site Manager, or an equivalent quality assurance role, ideally with a background as a former or current Building Control Officer or in a related regulatory field.
*
Specialist experience (4+ years) specifically focused on façade remediation, external wall systems, and fire safety compliance in the residential or commercial sector.
*
Professional membership is essential, ideally including MICWCI (Member of the Institute of Clerk of Works and Construction Inspectorate) and/or AssocRICS.
*
Relevant diplomas or certifications in fire safety/inspection are highly desirable (e.g., FSIDip, DipFD).
*
Demonstrated experience in reviewing design drawings, specifications, and ensuring contractual adherence.
*
Proven team leadership or coordination experience is beneficial.
*
Must hold a full UK driving licence and be committed to extensive national travel to manage a portfolio of sites
