Mechanical Commissioning Engineer – Data Centre Project (Gävle, Sweden)
€80,000 – €110,000 + Rotation + Accommodation + Travel + €1,000 Net Living Allowance

We are seeking an experienced Mechanical Commissioning Engineer to join a leading European contractor delivering a large-scale, mission-critical data centre project in Gävle, Sweden. This is a site-based role supporting the delivery of complex mechanical systems through the full commissioning lifecycle, working closely with commissioning leadership, construction teams, and specialist vendors.
The role offers exposure to hyperscale data centre infrastructure and the opportunity to work within a structured, best-in-class commissioning environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development and execution of the mechanical commissioning strategy and programme.
* Align commissioning activities with construction progress and project milestones.
* Monitor mechanical installation works to ensure systems are complete, compliant, and ready for testing.
* Verify installations against drawings, specifications, and quality standards prior to commissioning.
* Supervise and witness FATs, SATs, and Integrated Systems Testing (IST).
* Commission mechanical plant including chillers, AHUs, CRAH units, pumps, and associated systems.
* Support performance testing and reliability validation of mechanical systems.
* Coordinate specialist subcontractors and OEM vendors to ensure attendance and scope completion in line with programme.
* Act as a technical interface between vendors, construction, and commissioning teams.
* Review and manage commissioning documentation including method statements, risk assessments, test scripts, and compliance records.
* Ensure red-line drawings, commissioning records, and handover documentation are accurate and complete.
* Identify, record, and manage commissioning snags and punch lists.
* Drive close-out of defects to achieve zero-defect handover.
* Attend and contribute to daily and weekly commissioning meetings.
* Provide progress updates and technical input to commissioning leadership and project stakeholders.
Skills & Qualifications
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or relevant trade background with strong commissioning experience.
* Previous experience in a mechanical commissioning or site-based mechanical engineering role.
* Experience on data centre, pharmaceutical, industrial, or mission-critical projects highly advantageous.
* Strong technical knowledge of mechanical systems within a design-and-build environment.
* Familiarity with Building Management Systems (BMS) beneficial but not essential.
* Strong organisational, communication, and coordination skills.
* Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, programme-driven site environment.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, and Project.
