The Role
We are currently seeking an experienced Site Manager to join a social housing contractor on a temporary basis, overseeing construction and retrofit works across occupied and void properties in South London.
The role will focus heavily on SHDF-funded retrofit projects, ensuring works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget, and to a high standard while maintaining excellent resident relationships.
Key Responsibilities
Take full responsibility for the day-to-day management of site activities across social housing construction and retrofit projects.
Manage SHDF and retrofit works, including external wall insulation, roofing, windows, doors, heating systems, ventilation, and energy-efficiency upgrades.
Ensure all works are delivered in line with programme, specification, and quality standards.
Coordinate subcontractors, direct labour, and suppliers to ensure smooth site operations.
Ensure full compliance with health & safety, CDM regulations, and company policies.
Liaise with residents, housing officers, client representatives, and internal teams to minimise disruption and maintain strong customer satisfaction.
Conduct site inspections, toolbox talks, and quality checks.
Manage site records, RAMS, progress reports, and handover documentation.
Identify and resolve site issues promptly, escalating where required.
Required Experience & Skills
Proven experience as a Site Manager within social housing construction.
Essential experience delivering SHDF-funded projects and retrofit works.
Strong understanding of working in occupied properties and resident liaison.
Ability to manage multiple trades and subcontractors effectively.
Excellent organisational and communication skills.
Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
