Disrepair Surveyor
A client within the Public Sector based in the Southwest is currently recruiting for a Disrepair Surveyor to join their Housing and Landlord Services team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority housing and repairs environment.
The Role
Key purpose of the role is to manage housing condition claims received as legal disrepair cases, working closely with Legal Services to ensure claims are thoroughly investigated, resolved efficiently, and completed with minimal litigation. The role focuses on delivering high-quality repairs, managing customer expectations, and ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory standards.
Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
Managing disrepair claims from end to end, including inspections, diagnosis of defects, and specification of remedial works
Carrying out condition surveys, technical inspections, and preparing detailed reports, schedules of works, and witness statements
Project managing disrepair works, supervising contractors and in-house teams to ensure works are delivered on time, within budget, and to a high standard
Acting as Contract Administrator, Supervisor, and Project Manager for allocated cases
Liaising with tenants, legal services, contractors, and internal stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and high customer satisfaction
Supporting compensation assessments and providing professional advice in line with Housing Ombudsman guidance
Acting as a professional witness in legal proceedings where required
The Candidate
To be considered for this role you will require the below:
HNC/HND or Degree in Building Surveying, Construction, or a related discipline
Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. RICS, CIOB) or working towards
Relevant Health & Safety qualification (e.g. IOSH or NEBOSH – desirable)The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
Proven experience managing housing disrepair claims within a local authority or social housing setting
Strong knowledge of housing legislation, repairs standards, and disrepair legal processes
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are offering £295 per day Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (approx. £230 per day PAYE)
