Construction Manager – Hotel Conversion Project
Location: Croydon
Contract Type: Freelance – upto18 Month’s
Salary: £350 – £380 a day
We’re looking for an experienced Construction Manager to join our client who are an award winning tier one main contractor to lead the delivery of a major hotel conversion project, involving multi‑floor refurbishment, restaurant fit‑outs, front‑of‑house upgrades, and external works. This is a high‑profile scheme with a fast-paced programme totalling circa £25m, and we need someone who thrives in quality, coordination, high end finishing.
About the Role
As Construction Manager, you will take full responsibility for day‑to‑day site operations, ensuring the project is delivered safely, on time, and to the highest standards. You’ll coordinate subcontractors, manage logistics across multiple floors, and work closely with design, commercial, and client teams to keep the project moving smoothly.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead and manage all on‑site construction activities across several floors of refurbishment
* Oversee restaurant and front‑of‑house fit‑outs, ensuring exceptional finish and attention to detail
* Manage external works including façade improvements, landscaping, and access routes
* Coordinate subcontractors, site teams, and suppliers to maintain programme and quality
* Ensure all works are delivered in line with health & safety regulations and company standards
* Monitor progress, report regularly to senior management, and proactively resolve issues
* Work collaboratively with the client, design team, and internal stakeholders
* Maintain a tidy, safe, and well‑organised site at all times
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings both technical expertise and strong leadership. Ideally, you will have:
* Previous experience working on hotel projects — refurbishments, conversions, or new builds
* A strong track record managing complex, multi‑phase fit‑out and refurbishment schemes
* Excellent communication and coordination skills
* A proactive, solutions‑focused approach
* Strong understanding of H&S, quality control, and programme management
* Ability to manage multiple work fronts simultaneously
* SMSTS, CSCS, First Aid (or equivalent certifications)
