A reputable and thriving multi-disciplinary building services engineering contractor, headquartered in Northern Ireland, is looking for a Quantity Surveyor to join its Commercial team. Your new role
The Quantity Surveyor will be integral to the Mechanical & Electrical aspects of construction projects, overseeing costs from the initial design stages through to project completion and beyond. The role focusses on ensuring the financial success of projects by managing budgets, handling monthly valuations, and addressing variations and adjustments as they arise.
- Ensure the financial success of mechanical and electrical projects through effective cost management, monthly valuations, and handling of variations.
- Establish and nurture relationships with clients, contractors, industry peers, suppliers, and on-site teams.
- Oversee project finances, including monthly valuations, cost reviews, and final account settlements.
- Track monthly valuations to confirm timely payments in line with contract terms.
- Conduct site measurements and progress reviews to prepare accurate and punctual monthly valuations.
- Submit project paperwork and correspondence within set deadlines.
- Provide updates and reports to the Commercial Manager and Managing Director.
- Assess contracts before approval, flagging potential risks, assumptions, or limitations.
- Introduce and refine processes to boost efficiency and project outcomes.
What you’ll need to succeed
- Third level qualification in Quantity Surveying.
- Progressing towards or holding accreditation with RICS, CIOB, or ICES.
- At least 3 years of experience in a surveying position post-qualification, ideally in building construction.
- High proficiency in IT, particularly with Microsoft Office and cost reporting tools.
- Familiarity with administering JCT contracts from both client and subcontractor viewpoints.
- Strong commercial insight and ability to identify financial risks.
