The Role

We are seeking an experienced "Quality Engineer" to support a flagship civil engineering project based in Britain’s Ocean City. This is a high-profile opportunity to play a key role in assuring quality standards on a complex, nationally significant infrastructure scheme.

The Client and Project

Our client is a highly respected civil engineering contractor with a strong track record across the marine, water, environmental infrastructure and energy sectors. Renowned for delivering high-quality, technically complex projects, they enjoy a high level of repeat business from both public and private sector clients. 

They are currently based on a large Marine and Infrastructure project in Plymouth working on heavy RC structures and marine works. 

The Role & Responsibilities

Working across multiple civil engineering sections of work, the successful "Quality Engineer" will be site based, providing a valuable link between the site based teams and the office based quality and project management teams. 

You will be checking all the engineering works on site to ensure compliance and safety. 

Key responsibilities will include:

Material Verification: Checking certificates against specifications.
Placement Inspection: Ensuring rebar is correctly positioned, spaced, aligned, and has proper concrete cover as per drawings.
Installation Checks: Verifying secure tying, proper hooks, adequate lap lengths, and correct anchorage.
Surface Preparation: Confirming bars are free from rust, oil, or contaminants.
Drawing Compliance: Comparing installed rebar to the latest approved structural drawings and schedules (BBS). Candidate Requirements

This would suit an experienced site engineer, looking to move away from purely setting out OR an experienced, site based "Quality Engineer" We are looking for a Quality Engineer with a strong technical background and experience in regulated environments:

Minimum 5 years’ experience as a 'Site Engineer' or 'Quality Engineer'
Heavy Civil Engineering background in RC structures essential
Experience within a nuclear or similarly regulated environment is desirable but not essential
Strong knowledge of Quality Management Systems
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Educated to HNC / HND level in a relevant discipline
A recognised professional qualification in Quality Management would be advantageous
Ability to achieve SC Security Clearance is essential What’s in It for You
