We are delighted to be working with this international principal contractor, who would like to welcome a Design Manager / Senior Design into their very successful London operation.
Delivering projects within education, healthcare, and commercial, they have another exciting year ahead, in which you could be a significant part of.
Reporting to a Design Director, you will be responsible for maintaining and developing company standards and delivering the specific design and related services requiring technical input. Other duties will include ensuring that all project design documents are fully coordinated and efficiently completed in a timely manner by the design team, using the company's established systems and protocols.
The position will suit you if you are an enthusiastic and committed team player with an ability to communicate effectively at all levels and unite a team behind effective and innovative design solutions. Excellent time management skills and the ability to work effectively under sometimes demanding deadlines will be essential.
Specific Responsibilities:
• Leading the translation of contract drawings, specifications and documentation into an effective and commercial development solution
• Managing the discharging of planning conditions and building control on assigned projects
• Management of novated designers, including fees and information delivery
• Coordination of trade packages, including responding to design queries, managing change control and drawing approvals to agreed protocols
• Regularly reporting progress and keeping the department head and board Director appraised of progress and key issues on all current projects
• Resolve all day-to-day design problems as they arise by preparing solutions thereto and, where appropriate, liaising with the head of department for submission to the Client for approval
• Awareness and identification of design risks and proactively driving appropriate resolutions
• Regular attendance at project meetings
Experience & Attributes Required
• A minimum of 10 years design management experience with a
• Enjoyment of working in the office during pre-construction, and then on site during site production.
• Degree qualification in Structural / Civil Engineer or Construction .
• Up to date knowledge of building regulations
