gap constructions are pleased to be working with a well-established, highly respected regional main contractor that has built its reputation delivering quality public sector projects for decades. This is a business that takes real pride in what it builds: from schools and healthcare facilities to community and heritage projects.
They're now looking to bring in an experienced Contracts Manager who enjoys being close to the work, supporting teams on site and playing a hands-on role in delivering projects that genuinely matter to the end users. If you're someone who prefers collaboration over ego, values doing things properly, and wants to work for a contractor with a strong name and steady pipeline of work, this role will likely appeal.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and deliver public sector refurbishment, fit-out and construction projects from pre-start through to completion.
Take ownership of multiple schemes, with full responsibility for programme, quality, safety and commercial performance.
Lead, support and motivate project teams, fostering a positive and collaborative site culture.
Manage procurement, subcontractors and the wider supply chain.
Proactively manage risk, identify opportunities and resolve issues before they escalate.
Maintain a visible, hands-on presence across sites.
Champion health, safety and quality at all times.
Build strong, lasting relationships with clients and consultants.
Support repeat work and contribute to tenders and pre-construction input where required.Person Specification
Proven experience as a Contracts Manager within a main contracting environment.
Strong background delivering public sector projects (education, healthcare, community or refurbishment works).
Solid commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets and contractual obligations effectively.
A natural leader who can engage site teams and communicate confidently with clients.
Proactive, organised and solutions-focused.
Comfortable using Microsoft Office and standard project management systems.
