An excellent opportunity has arisen for an Architectural Technologist to join a growing SME Chartered Architectural Practice based in their newly established studio in the heart of York.

Established in 2007, our client is a well-respected and market-leading architectural practice delivering high-quality residential and commercial projects across the Yorkshire region. With a team of approximately 10 professionals, the studio is recognised for its creative approach, technical expertise, and commitment to delivering well-resolved, buildable design solutions.

High-end residential

Housing

Community and public sector projects

Conservation and heritage

Commercial developments

With clear ambitions to become a Design Leader in the North of England, the practice is seeking a motivated and technically strong Architectural Technologist to grow with the business and contribute to its continued success.

The Role

The successful Architectural Technologist will play a key role in the technical delivery of projects, working closely with Architects and Directors across multiple sectors. This is an excellent opportunity for a Technologist who enjoys responsibility, values collaboration, and wants to develop within a supportive, close-knit studio environment.

Key Responsibilities & Person Specification

Our client is interested in hearing from candidates who can demonstrate the following:

Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as an Architectural Technologist (or in a similar technical role)

Strong technical focus with the ability to contribute to project delivery across multiple work stages

Full proficiency in AutoCAD

Experience with Archicad, InDesign, and Photoshop would be an advantage

Ability to produce detailed technical drawings, construction packages, and specifications to a high standard

Good understanding of UK Building Regulations, construction methods, and industry standards

Ability to work effectively to tight deadlines and manage multiple workloads

Strong organisational skills with good attention to detail

Confident communication skills and ability to liaise with consultants, contractors, and clients

Proactive, enthusiastic, and passionate about technical design

Enjoys working as part of a small, collaborative team

Qualifications

Degree, HNC/HND, or equivalent qualification in Architectural Technology

Experience gained within a UK-based architectural practice

CIAT membership (or working towards) would be advantageous but not essential

Working Hours & Benefits

Monday–Thursday: 8:00am – 4:30pm

Friday: 8:00am – 3:00pm

Base salary: £30,000 – £35,000, plus benefits (dependent on experience)

Studio-based role in York or Harrogate, with flexible working hours available
