Intermediate Civil Quantity Surveyor for Stockport
We are recruiting an intermediate Civil Quantity Surveyor with highways and civil engineering exposure and knowledge to join an established business and conduct works in the Stockport area, Manchester. This permanent position provides an excellent platform to grow your career while working on high-profile infrastructure projects.
Monday – Friday, 8 hour days, £40-£50k salary depending on qualifications and experience
Looking to start immediately after successful interview process (end of January/ start of February)
Key job responsbilities:
– Assisting with commercial and cost control activities, including site measurements, cost reporting, forecasting and financial tracking.
– Supporting the preparation of valuations, quotations and estimates, ensuring accuracy and alignment with drawings and specifications
– Assisting with subcontractor management, including enquiries, order placement, valuations and payment assessments.
– Supporting financial administration, reporting and stock control, maintaining accurate commercial records and audit trails
– Liaising with the finance and administration teams to support account settlement and project reporting.
– Coordinating with site teams and business centre managers to ensure strong communication and cost capture.
– Representing the company in a professional manner with clients and supply chain partners.
– Supporting the wider Commercial Team to ensure effective financial control across projects.
Ideal candidates:
– A recent degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying or related occupations.
– Exposure to civil and highway infrastructure works.
– Knowledge working on projects for public and/or private sector clients, with exposure to NEC and JCT contracts (primarily NEC).
– A baseline understanding of construction costs, project components and commercial control.
– A commercially aware mindset and a desire to learn and develop
– Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to work effectively with site teams, clients and colleagues.
– A high level of organisation, accuracy and attention to detail.
– Good IT skills, including MS Office, Outlook and measurement software.
– A self-motivated and proactive attitude with the ambition to develop industry knowledge, skills and become a key member of the team.
– The confidence to take responsibility and work independently when required, with support from senior team members.
