Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Subcontractor Estimator with a strong background in groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frames. This is a hands-on estimating role working solely within the subcontractor sector—candidates with main contractor experience will not be considered.

The successful candidate will be responsible for producing accurate, competitive cost estimates for a variety of civil engineering and structural projects, ensuring all bids reflect commercial and technical requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare detailed estimates and tender submissions for subcontractor packages.

Analyse drawings, specifications, and project documentation.

*

Conduct material and labour take-offs for groundworks, basements, RC frames, demolition, cut and carve, temporary works, and steel frame works.

*

Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.

*

Review and assess subcontractor pricing and proposals.

*

Identify project risks, programme constraints, and value engineering opportunities.

*

Support commercial teams with bid strategies and pre-tender meetings.

*

Maintain and update internal estimating records and cost databases.

Candidate Profile

*

Proven experience as a subcontractor estimator within groundworks, demolition, or structural packages.

*

Strong knowledge of basements, RC frames, cut and carve, steel frames, and temporary works.

*

Ability to work independently and manage multiple tenders simultaneously.

*

Excellent numerical, analytical, and commercial awareness.

*

Strong understanding of subcontractor procurement and pricing.

*

Proficient in Microsoft Excel and estimating software.

*

Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
