Solar PV Design Engineer

Our client was established more than two decades ago and today delivers thousands of new and refurbished spaces for major brands, both in the UK and overseas. As experts in transforming retail and commercial space, the business provides numerous consultancy and contacting services, including energy strategies and decarbonisation advice.

The energy consultancy team is keen to expand the Solar PV team with the hire of an experienced Design Engineer who will work with the pre development and delivery teams to survey, design and cost commercial solar PV systems. The Solar PV Design Engineer will be responsible for managing their own workload and engaging the wider teams in the business for support on electrical, H&S and commercial issues.

Reporting to the Senior Project Manager.

Skills & Knowledge

* 2 years+ experience of designing commercial solar PV systems

* Detailed knowledge of commercial PV design systems – PVSOL, PVSys etc

* Ability to design system, wiring requirements, string configuration and inverter sizing

* Understanding of commercial model for solar PV – return on investment, energy generation and export value

* Drone licence and experience of using drones for surveys

* Knowledge of H&S legislation with regards to the design and installation of PV systems

* Knowledge of Building Regs requirements for commercial solar PV systems

* Good Excel, Word and Powerpoint skills

* Strong written and verbal communication skills

* CAD and Revit experience desirable

* Produce design drawings including single line diagrams and initial layouts

* Prepare and submit DNO applications

* An understanding of current G99 & G100 Regulations, Electrical Regulations, Building Regulations, Solar PV & EESS Codes of Practice
