About the Role:
Our global client is seeking a Principal Cable System Design Engineer to support major HV/EHV transmission and energy infrastructure projects across the UK and Europe. You’ll provide technical leadership on HVAC and HVDC cable systems within a growing Power & Energy team at the forefront of the energy transition.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead HV/EHV cable system design (132kV–400kV) across FEED and detailed design.
* Deliver cable designs for HVAC and HVDC systems.
* Perform technical calculations (ratings, thermal, EMF, sheath voltages).
* Develop specifications, design documentation, and technical reports.
* Provide technical leadership and mentor engineers.
* Ensure compliance with CDM, National Grid, and DNO standards.
Skills & Experience:
* Proven HV cable system design experience (132kV–400kV)
* UK transmission & distribution background
* Strong knowledge of National Grid and DNO processes
* Experience using CYMCAP and COMSOL
* Degree in Electrical Engineering (CEng preferred or working towards)
