One of the largest steel fabricators in the industry, delivering major international projects, is seeking a talented Design Engineer to join their design team based in Bury. This is an excellent opportunity to work on large-scale, technically challenging steel or timber structures within a highly established and respected business.
The role offers an attractive four-day working week, consistent daytime hours and the chance to contribute to landmark projects across the UK and overseas.
THE ROLE
As a Design Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, detailing and technical development of steel or timber structures from concept through to fabrication and erection. You will work closely with project managers, fabrication teams and clients to ensure designs are safe, efficient, buildable and compliant with relevant standards.
The role involves producing calculations, drawings and technical documentation, supporting fabrication and site teams, and contributing to value engineering and design development on complex projects.
REQUIREMENTS
Candidates should have experience as a Design Engineer within steel and/or timber structures. A strong understanding of structural design principles, relevant codes and industry standards is essential. Experience producing design calculations and working with fabrication or manufacturing teams is highly desirable.
You should be comfortable working as part of a collaborative design team, with good communication skills and a proactive approach to problem solving. Experience working on large or complex structures, particularly within a fabrication environment, would be advantageous.
