Assistant Quantity Surveyor – Measom, London

Job Purpose:
Responsible for assisting the Project Quantity Surveyor (PQS) or Senior Project Quantity Surveyor (SPQS) to manage projects on programme and on budget.
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
- Participates in preparing prelim spreadsheets prior to the Managers Pre-Start meeting
- Participates in the procurement of Sub Contractors as required
- Assists in the procurement of site materials, with reference to budget against costs
- Ensures the full implementation of Company Commercial Systems – both electronic filing and site records
- Takes off quantities from drawing.
- Carries out basic site measures for Applications and Variations
- Checks sub-contractors Applications.
- Attends and reports at internal site progress meeting.
- Enters variations and site instructions into Roger and into Applications for Payment.
- Enters Time Sheets into Roger for review by the PQS/SPQS..
- Prices Daywork Sheets.
- Re-measures from construction drawing using on-centre and manual take-off.
- Prices variations for review and submits them.
- Checks materials are in line with estimate
- Attends CVR meetings
- Attends Internal Site Progress Meetings
- Helps in the preparation of Applications for Payment
- Prepares cost budgets and monitors cost spend against these
- Monitors the prelim schedule with the PQS/SPQS
- Produces the man-hours reports out of Roger for the Programme and Progress
- Calculates Plot / Sub-Zone prices for the PQS/SPQS
- Makes recommendations to improve processes, procedures and productivity.
- Acts in accordance with the Measom values and as a role model for other company staff
- Assists in the mentoring and training of less experienced and new staff
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualifications: A HNC or working towards one & CSCS Card
- Experience: A minimum of 1 to 2 years working in a similar role, within a sub-contracting or principle contracting environment.
- The role is both office & site-based.
